UC&D 2013 Outstanding Commercial/Office Project
Vivint Corporate Office
Architect: VCBO Architecture
Interior Design: Rapt Studio
GC: Big-D Construction
Civil: Dudley & Associates
Electrical: Spectrum Engineers
Structural: Dunn Associates
Nestled at the mouth of Provo Canyon, the Vivint Office Complex serves as the corporate headquarters of Vivint Alarm, the fifth-largest and fastest-growing alarm company in the U.S. The facility provides Class A office space with open and well-lit interiors and is located within the Riverwoods Business Park.
The project, which is pursuing LEED Silver certification, included the construction of a 74,000 SF office building and a 24,000 square-foot parking garage under the building. The first floor features a “demonstration house” used to showcase Vivint’s security systems.
The building’s radiused front facade provides expansive windows to capture the view of the adjacent mountains, with Mount Timpanogos framed in the corner executive offices of the upper floor. A sloped glass curtain wall and a cantilevered aluminum wing punctuate the radius. The two-story lobby is finished in raw and polished materials in addition to the company’s trademark orange panels.
Interior finishes offered unique challenges. The ceiling clouds have an unusual shape and had to interface with lighting and mechanical systems. Glass partition systems have dimensioning tolerances of less than one-eighth of an inch.
