UC&D 2014 Outstanding Small Healthcare Project
Owner: Ogden Clinic
Architect: Carpenter Stringham Architects
GC: Wadman Corporation
This new 41,000 SF, two-story ambulatory health care facility includes a steel frame structure with an EIFS and stone exterior and a VRF mechanical system. One unique innovation during design was having the owner and design team build an actual cardboard ‘mock-of 2014 up’ so they could visualize the space. This saved over $50,000 in construction costs. Because of tight space on the existing site, it allowed for zero on-site staging, which required the project team to work closely with subs on ‘just in time’ deliveries of materials. Interior design considerations required accommodating 10 different provider groups and disciplines in one facility, while addressing issues of patient and staff access. Warm earth tone colors and materials, coupled with natural light, provide a comfortable interior.
