The vision behind this $44 million dollar, 170,000-SF building was simple: To create a space that furthers the holistic development of students in body, mind and spirit. Physical fitness, recreation, spiritual awareness and social interaction all come into play in this facility. Two architecturally exposed steel trusses were used to suspend floors three through five, locking these three upper levels together seismically so they would move together in a seismic event. Trusses are designed to collect and transfer force from upper levels to the structures Buckling Restrained Brace Frame lateral system below. Interior spaces are all carefully detailed with refined forms, textures and lighting. Finishes on the first two floors are accented with wood, while the recreation center levels add a focus on durability.
