UC&D 2014 Outstanding Water/Wastewater Project
Ogden Bay Waterfowl Management Area Structure Repair
Owner: Weber County
GC: Whitaker Construction
Structural Concrete: Bowen Construction
This $3.1 million project includes construction of new flood control facilities on the Weber River at the Ogden Bay Refuge. It features a new flow control structure, new overflow outlet piping, and upgrades to existing flow structures and dike repairs. Crews also repaired a large scour hole in the bottom of the river, which required more than 15,000 cubic yards of Rip-Rap and stabilization material. One of the upgrades saw the installation of six new 8-foot wide to 12-foot wide radial gates, which required precise measurements because of tight tolerances. Exceptional craftsmanship allowed for a precision fit into new and existing structures.
